Here are a few words to summarize the situation
Our daughter Caroline has been suffering a non diagnosable musclular disease for three years now.
We have visited several clinics specializing in muscular diseases in a variety of cities in Germany such as Munich, Magdeburg, Erlangen, Göttingen and Dortmund.
We have received major support from the University of Magdeburg, but even up until now, nobody has been able to identify this disease. This disease is progressing slowly and Caroline is now restricted to a wheel chair.
It’s very important for us to identify this disease and find some immediate treatment, which up to now has not been possible in Germany. With the support of the Magdeburg University Hospital, we are reaching out via the newspaper and radio waves for local support.
It all began before Christmas at a Christmas concert in the town of Kleinwanzleben.
The residents of Kleinwanzleben were so impressed with Carolins singing, that they reached out to RADIO MDR to broadcast the urge for local support. We never had the courage to take this to the public. Shortly before Christmas Radio MDR presented Carlolin with a check for 500 Euro and began broadcasting the story about her illness. The 500 Euro is the first step to get Caroline to the United States.
Our plea for help was heard by local people in our community. After hearing the radio show, a local resident told Carolin’s story to one of her friends in Houston Texas, who reported the story to the local hospital. The hospital in Houston requested to see Carolin’s medical records from the University of Magdeburg.
We must personally take on the costs of this treatment. We are still waiting to see a proposal from Houston, but the bottom line is that we are going to need at least 20,000 Euro to begin the procedures in Houston.
We are trying anything we can do to get the support. We know it will be tough, but the help and support will be there. We really hope that we can find the means to bring Carolin to the USA to cure this illness plaguing our precious daughter.
